Shaman World Music Club was founded in 1999, with the objective to share "world music" with music lovers in Istanbul and to present "quality entertainment". In Istanbul, a city where hundreds of cultures come together and mingle, Shaman has become the place where the tunes of hundreds of cultures also meet. With its objective to be the "Meeting Point of the World Music Lovers", melodies produced at Shaman World Music Club by the instruments of the world's leading musicians have enriched our lives. "The World Music Lovers" met with DJ's competent on this type of music, great musicians and music groups. Shaman World Music Club continued its path with accelerated improvement every day without giving up its principle of introducing high quality world music.
Shaman World Music Production, having started with such understanding and enthusiasm, have been continuing its activities at its venue Shaman World Music Club since 2001. Shaman, which embraces "world music" with all its diversity, presents different colors and lines of this type with its rich and special record archive.
Within the concept of "world music" many successful and highly qualified organizations have been organized in Turkey. However, adequate continuity and determination to properly introduce and represent "world music" in Turkey have not yet been achieved. Shaman World Music Production's primary objective is to create a "world music platform" in Turkey to constitute such continuity and determination. In short, Shaman aims to create the basis to ensure and sustain access to "world music" with all its dimensions and diversity.
Such a platform, the foundation of which has been laid since the establishment of Shaman World Music Club in 1999, will be the basis of Istanbul's "first" World Music Festival. The event to be realized by us on 11th of March 2006, namely Shaman World Music Days I, will constitute the first step to build the world music platform of Istanbul. |
